Facility Overview and Plan

Construction in Makobe is focused on filling the needs of the community's orphan children.
The required facilities are the following:

  • DORMITORY space for between 80 and 100 children requiring several buildings. The first dormitory is completed housing 20 girls.
  • DINING HALL/STUDY HALL this will allow for study and gathering outside of the dormitory.
  • NEW KITCHEN required by law to insure cleanliness for the preparation of meals.
  • WATER PROJECT - well drilling in order to insure clean water for the children. Currently the water comes from a nearby stream where the cleanliness is very questionable.
  • SOLAR SYSTEM installation, allowing for low cost power consumption within the community, currently without electric power.

WORK IN PROGRESS

A team of people from the U.S. have contributed funds and have actually traveled to Makobe to work along side of the local builders, helping to establish a bond of commitment to the project. In July 2003, a second team from the U.S. is traveling to Makobe in order to help.

DORMITORY RESULTS

Astounding results have been achieved through the construction and financial contribution to Makobe Children's Home. Twenty girls are eating regular meals, and they have all received school uniforms and are completing their classes. Uniforms are required for school attendance. The children are all healthy based on regular health care. What a blessing to see these children thrive at Makobe Children's Home.

As you can see with just one dormitory completed the positive results are building. Please join us in support of the faith based Makobe Children's Home.
